Dundonald Cottage Bowmore

We had a great stay at Dondonald Cottage in Bowmore. It’s a great base from which to explore Islay, and all the amenities in Bowmore are within a couple of minutes’ walk. There is an electric car charging just across the road. The Co-op is open from 07:00-22:00 every day and is well stocked. The Peatzeria restaurant is highly recommended.

The house itself is very clean, spacious and well-equipped. We stayed as a couple, but there’s more than enough room for four. The views across the loch at the back are nice, with a table and bench in the garden (not that we sat out much in March!). The fire was set when we arrived and was nice to add to the cosy feel of the house, which was always warm, whatever the conditions outside. Communication with the host was clear and comprehensive in advance, and a small issue with an appliance was dealt with quickly and smoothly. Overall, very highly recommended and we’d certainly stay here again if coming back to Islay.
